MEDIUM-SIZED FOAM GENERATOR
Abstract
The article deals with a compact medium-sized foam generator for extinguishing fires. The course of conducting exploring by a unit of gas-smoke-protecting service in a smoky room is described. The feasibility of its creation and application is substantiated, which means that the unit of the gas-smoke protection service does not have to return behind the foam generator if necessary. This allows the mobility and timeliness of its actions to be retained and to accelerate the introduction of extinguishing agents into the fire. The occurrence of foaming phenomenon is theoretically analyzed, on the basis of which an attempt was made to experimentally study the foaming mechanism in four modes, depending on the pressure in the water head. The main portable foam generators of medium multiplicity, with which operational and rescue units are armed, are considered, and their structure is examined, which eliminates the possibility of their convenient transportation and transfer. The basic structural elements are described, their sizes are substantiated by formulas, the illustrations are given and the situations of efficient use of the generator are given. Experimental studies have been carried out and digital data on the performance of the developed foam generator are given, including the multiplicity and foam yield that it is capable of providing under the experimental conditions. Comparison of the proposed compact medium foam generator with the known ones is presented and its advantages are highlighted. The conclusions and scientific and practical results of the work are made, among which it is possible to point out that the issue of compact foam generators of average multiplicity has not been investigated yet, the available generators have certain disadvantages, the developed generator is much smaller and lighter than the known analogues so far, not inferior to the this in performance
