REDUCTION OF THE QUANTITY OF EMISSIONS OF HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES AND ENVIRONMENTAL LOSSES AS A RESULT OF FIRE OF FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS SPILLED ON THE SURFACE OF WATER, WHEN FIRE EXTINGUISHING WITH AIR-MECHANICAL FOAM
Abstract
Oil spills on the surface of a body of water (sea, ocean) lead to significant environmental pollution, which results in costs for the elimination of such accidents and corresponding fines in monetary terms. Even more damage is caused by the burning of such spills. You can partially reduce the amount of pollution by extinguishing the fire in time. In the proposed article, a comparison of ecological losses due to complete burnout of the spilled oil and losses due to partial cessation of combustion by air-mechanical foam is given on the model of spillage and burning of 1 ton of oil. It is estimated, that when 1 ton of oil is burned on the surface of the reservoir, environmental losses from the fire in monetary terms are approximately UAH 31.2. with complete oil burnout; UAH 28.11 - under the condition that 90% of the oil has burned before extinguishing; UAH 15.64 UAH - on the condition that 50% of the oil had time to burn before extinguishing and UAH 6.46. - on the condition that 20% of the oil had time to burn before extinguishing.
